Nashville with kids
My kids and I decided to make a southern tour in the winter of 2019. One of the cities we really enjoyed was Nashville. It's only an hour and a 1/2 from Mammoth Caves so we had just finished a day there then woke up and drove to Nashville. We stayed near the airport. I recommend this area of town. We were only 15 minutes to down town by car and very close to Opry mills too.
Our first stop was the Country music hall of fame. I felt like this was an Iconic place to visit in Nashville however, I don't think I would do it again. The tickets were expensive and so is all the parking near the museum it was also crowded. Our kids are familiar with country music but they weren't too impressed with all the row upon row of country singers clothes and paraphernalia. This is great place to go if your a fan of country music. Their were some fun things my kids did enjoy there. They liked the Taylor Swift education center were they made Kazoos. Almost every day the museum has some kind of activity there. They also enjoyed the scavenger hunt which they got a prize for completing. Another highlight was being inside the giant guitar there. The museum also has a recording area where you can record your own music which was lots of fun. The museum was $26 for adults $16 for kids and 5 and under are free. Parking was $30. So the 2 1/2 hours we spent there cost our family $128. Which was one of our priciest outings of the whole trip, which if we loved it I would be ok spending that but it really wasn't that great.
Adventure Science Center
This place was AMAZING! This is an ASTC museum so it was free for us and the parking was free too which was a huge bonus. The kids loved playing in the climbing tower in the center of the museum. They also loved the gravity free area. We had so much fun here we ended up coming back. I highly recommend this museum!
Parthenon- My oldest son read the Percy Jackson series and saw the movies so this was #1 on his list of places to visit in Nashville. It was very cool to see. Anyone studying Greek mythology would love this. It's in a park outside of the city by a few miles.
First art museum- This place was AWESOME! Kids get in free and they have reduce priced parking. This is a big deal. Parking in Nashville is REALLY expensive. They have a great art collection, but the best thing is that they have a make and create studio that is over the top. They have screen printing, stop animation, and so much more. We could have stayed here all day, but we were in Nashville and I wanted the kids to hear some live music. There are picnic benches outside of the museum and we ate our sack lunch there. From the art museum we walked to Broadway street and left the car there because of the free parking. The kids loved hearing all the live music. We ordered a plate of fries and shared them while we listened to some live music.
Grand Ole Opery- Taking a tour of the Grand ole Opery was not in our time budget or money budget but we did enjoy walking around this iconic part of Nashville. The Grand Old Opery was right next to the Opery Mall. They have a fantastic restaurant there that was way cheaper to split a dessert and the kids enjoyed more than a tour.
Opry mills Aquarium restaurant- This place was great. Everything is expensive here so we just shared a dessert. The kids loved eating it being surrounded by fish. Such a fun evening.

Live music on Broadway street- So the word on the street is that they keep the performances pretty clean during the day. This was defiantly our experience. The bars on Broadway street encourage folks to come and listen to their performers for free. I felt a little weird about this we we ordered something small and shared it. But it was so fun to listen to live music in Nashville.
